Two time ARC Pro Stock Champion Flyin’ Fred Astle picked up his first win since 2006, as he dominated the Coors Light Silver Cup 75 lap main event. West Bridgewater’s’ John Dabrowski and Steve O’Brien of Scituate Ma, brought the field down for the green flag. The green didn’t stay out very long, as O’Brien started sliding back on the initial green, and spun his Autopart International Chevy while coming down to complete lap 1. No damage was done, and he was able to rejoin the field, but at the tail end. This put sophomore Scott Dion on the outside of the front row. When the green reappeared, the Tire Warehouse 00 of Dabrowski jumped out to a quick lead over the Douglas A King Builders #4 of Dion, who started backsliding. Mike Brightman quickly filled in the runner-up spot in his Impact Collision Parts Ford. Tom Scully Jr , who started 7th in his Ease Coast Collision deuce was up into third by lap 10, with Matt Hudon and Dion rounding out the top five.   John would hold onto the lead for 15 laps before Acushnet’s Mike Brightman was able to wrestle it away on the outside. The duo swapped the lead several times over the next 2 laps, until Brightman found the grip he needed on lap 18. While Brightman was setting the pace by only a car length, Cranston RI’s Tom Scully Jr was working his way up on the outside. On lap 19, the bumped each other, and found themselves out of the racing groove. This allowed Rehoboth’s Dave Darling and Westport’s Fred Astle Jr to work their way into second and third, with Dabrowski and Kid Scully back up to speed in fourth and fifth.   At the 1/3 mark, Astle started to make his move. He brought the Woodframe Structures Chevy to the top of the racetrack, and worked the outside of the Johnson Landscaping Dodge of  Darling. They would race like this for several laps, until Astle found himself second at lap 31. He would follow Brightman for a handful of laps. On lap 31, the leader board changed hands for the final time. Working the outside, Fred Astle put his blue and silver Chevy into the lead, and started pulling away. While he set the pace, the race for second was anything but over. Darling continued to hold onto second, but Scully Jr was working his way back up toward the front. His Subway of Seekonk #2 was hooked in the second groove, and made short work of Dabrowski, and worked his way up by Brightman. By lap 50, he was trying to find a way by the reigning champion.  It was at lap 50, when the second caution flew, for Mike Brightman losing the handles on the Emergency Management Inc. Ford, and spinning. At this mark, the top ten was Astle, Darling, Scully Jr, West Warwick RI native Ryan Vanasse® , Tom Scully Sr of Westport, Ken Spencer of Taunton, Scott Dion,  Jake Vanada®, Matt Hudon, and Dabrowski   On the restart, Dave Hutchins of Somerset spun his Hutchins & Sons 96, and the field was quickly slowed. Another restart, and another spin. This one for Steve O’Brien and Jimmy Rosenfield of Middleboro, as they got together in turn 3. With Astle and Darling getting anxious, the field was brought down too quickly, and a false start ensued. The green would finally come back out, but after only 6 laps, as Darryl Stampfl of Norwood, MA spun in turn 2. During that short run, Tom Jr found his way up into second. This restart would be the closest anyone would get to Astle for the remainder of the event. As they cam down for the green, Scully got the jump on Astle, and it looked as if he might be able to pick up win number two. For 3 laps, they ran side by side, when they bumped each other coming off of turn 4. While they both had to gather the cars back up, Scully fell back yet again. This time, he fell only back to third. While Fred pulled away to over 10 car lengths, Tom had to work the outside lane once again. He found his black and white Chevy liked the outside, and on lap 68, he finally edged by Darling for the runner up position. But by then, there was no catching the former 2 time track champion. Fred was on rails all night, and in Victory Lane, thanked everyone for putting a great car together for him to play with. “We’ve got a new bunch of guys working with us this season. They have been tremendous in putting this car together. My car owner Ron Lauro and his wife are awesome to drive for.” Tom Scully Jr finished second, with Darling, Vanasse and Spencer third through fifth. Rounding out the top ten were Jake Vanada, Tom Scully Sr, Matt Hudon, Mike Brightman and Dave Hutchins. Qualifiers were won by John Dabrowski and Steve O’Brien.

In the Late Model 30 lap feature, it was a battle of brothers, as Kevin Casper held off Kyle Casper for the win. It was Randy Clark of East Harwich Ma and Welfleet’s Bob Hussey setting the pace. While Randy got the jump, Bob started to lose his grip, and on lap 2, the back end came out from underneath him as the field was coming off turn 4. When the front end caught, the Erin H Charters #80 slid up the racetrack and spun in front of the field, hitting the front stretch wall hard on the drivers’ side. Luckily, the car hit in the rear first, and then the front. After several minutes of catching his breath, Bob was able to climb out of his battered racer under his own power. Also involved in this were Cranston RI’s Jeramee Lillie, Acushnet MA native Matt Breault, reigning champion Gerry DeGasparre Jr of Pawtucket RI, and Norwood’s Dennis Stampfl. Only Lillie would not return. John Dickerman would also pit at this time.   When the green returned, Carl, driving the Randy’s Drywall Chevy, would once again pick up the lead, this time with Quincy native John Hanafin in tow. Rey Lovelace, Kevin Casper, and Kyle Casper had already worked their way into the top 5, after starting 8th and  11th respectively. By lap 10, Hanafin put his Local 7 Iron Workers Chevy to the front, as Clark was fighting the steering wheel and sliding back. Hannifin’s lead was short lived, however, as the Phil’s Propane Ford Fusion of Kevin Casper had his mount working well on the outside. On lap 12, Kevin was the third leader of the event. Brother Kyle was following him right to the front. At the halfway mark, the top five looked like Kevin and Kyle Casper, Hanafin, Mike Taschereau of West Warwick, RI, And Stampfl. DeGasparre and Alex Bernard were right behind. The A-1 Custom Auto Body Chevy of DeGasparre started rolling on  the outside, and had worked his way up to fourth by lap 21, when Breault and Rey Lovelace spun in turn 3, with the Rey’s Car Care #14 of Lovelace taking the brunt of the impact in the wall. Once again, Breault had his Breault Roofing Dodge in and out of the pits. With 9 laps to go, Kevin had his hands full. With the green back out, Kyle would keep his Kidd’s Motorsports #7 wound up on the outside, staying even with Kevin for several laps, before dropping back behind. Gerry had worked his way under the black and gold 76 of Hanafin, as they battled to the finish. With 3 laps to go, Kyle once again put his blue/yellow #7 to the outside, and tried work his way up to the lead. His efforts were in vain, as Kevin Casper beat Kyle by half a car length. “Man that was a lot of fun racing with him. I’m glad he gave us one today. He really ran me hard. My hats off to the crew, they worked their tail off. We had carburetor problems, but they got it done. Phil, Ray, the entire crew. What an awesome job.” Finishing third was DeGasparre, with Hanafin and Bill Bernard fought and fifth. Sixth through tenth were John Dickerman, Mike Taschereau, Matt Breault, Randy Clark and Dennis Stampfl. Qualifiers were won by Gerry DeGasparre Jr and Kevin Casper.

Another first time winner sat in Victory Lane in the Street Stocks. This time, it was rookie contender Jeff Amaral of Bristol RI picking up the win in the NuTin Bodies #7. Dick Cavallaro of East Providence RI and Ron Barboza Jr of Warren RI would set the pace for the 20 lap feature. Coming down to complete lap one, Rick Shinn of Hyannis MA spun his Cape & Island Kitchen #10 across the start/finish line. No one else was caught up, but several cars did have slight damage from avoiding, including Bob Bettencourt Jr of Fall River MA. On the ensuing restart, Ray Negley of Coventry RI put his Nails by Viv Camaro into the runner-up spot, and would hound the Casey Title Co. #6 of Cavallaro for the lead. By lap 5, Amaral had used the outside lane to work his way up into 3rd, and following that same line, edged out Cavallaro for the lead by lap 9. As the fiend worked down the backstretch, Bettencourt spun the Finest Racing Engines #21, and brought out the second caution of the event.

When the green unfurled, Amaral jumped out to a quick lead, and pulled away to five car lengths. Working their way through the field were South Attleboro’s Steve Axon and Paul Newcomb Jr of Plymouth MA. Both cars found the outside groove to their liking, and by lap 15, they were just outside the top 5. Axon started 16th, and Newcomb started 19th. Newcomb, after coming through the consolation round, seemed to find the handles, as he was able to work his way into the top 3 by lap 18. When the checked flew, Jeff Amaral of Bristol RI became the second first time winner in as many weeks in the Street Stocks, after starting 6th on the initial green. Finishing second was Dick Cavallaro, who finally worked out the gremlin which caused his car to shut off after only a few laps. Ray Negley and Steve Axon were fourth and fifth. Ron Barboza Jr, Paul Lallier, Chris DeMoura, Sparky Arsenault, and Scott Serydynski rounded out the top ten. Heats were won by Jeff Amaral, Steve Axon, and Ron Barboza Jr, while Paul Newcomb won the consolation round. Bill Prisco started off the night picking up his second career Seekonk Sports Truck victory. The front row for the 20 lap main event for the Trucks were Bill Clarke of Seekonk and Brian Murray of Tiverton RI. Jody Tripp tried to recreat the impact he had a week ago, but only spun in front of the field on lap 1. No contact was made, and no caution was thrown, as Tripp continued on. The battle for the lead began right away, as Zach Tucan, who had been fighting an ill handling Truck for the first 2 weeks took the lead on lap 2, in a darling 3 wide move. The After Hours Auto Body Chevy S10 opened up a 4 truck advantage by lap 5, when the first caution was thrown. Billy Clarke had spun off of turn 2, and Darryl Church was called for the assist. At this point, Prisco had worked his way up from his seventh starting position, and Charlie Rose Jr sat third after starting ninth. These three drivers would put on quite a show for several laps. On the restart, Tucan would get the jump, but not much of one, as Billy Prisco tried the outside, and Rose would put the Sanford & Sons Auto Parts #41 to the inside, making it a 3 wide battle for the lead. Rose just could not get the room on the inside to let his truck run quite where he needed it, and was unable to move past the 2 trucks on the outside of him. Prisco and Tucan would swap the lead back and forth several times over the next several laps. It was during these exchanges when Prisco used up the third groove to his advantage, and would wrestle the lead away from young Tucan. But after getting loose on lap 9, Tucan would gain back the top spot. Prisco would regain the lead on lap 12.  Lap 14 saw the final caution come out, for New Bedford MA’s Lenny Guy who spun in turn 3. Jody Tripp also made slight contact, but not enough to sideline either truck. Charlie would have a chance to take the lead from Prisco on the restart. For the next 4 laps, Prisco and Rose would swap the lead back and forth, as they ran bedrail to bedrail for the lead. Lap 17 saw the final lead change, as Prisco was able to pull of his first victory since 2006. Rose wound up second, with Ed Gannon III of Fall River, reigning Champion Mike Cavallaro, and Taunton Ma’s Hugh Bowser rounding out the top 5. Tucan, Jason Heroux, Richard Albernaz, Brian Murray, and Darryl Church rounded out the top ten. “This is unbelievable” said and exuberant Prisco in Victory Lane.” “I wasn’t worried about Charlie running me rough. We had fun racing each other. He wasn’t being overaggressive at all. We did a lot of work over the winter, and it has paid off.” Qualifiers were won by Mike Cavallaro and Charlie Rose Jr.

Tom Scully Sr., Matt Breault, Chris DeMoura, and Hugh Bowser shine in Victory Lane.

Westport Ma. native Tom Scully Sr. went wire to wire to pick up his first win since 2006.After crashing out on opening night, the Subway of Seekonk, East Coast Collision Monte Carlo was back up to full song. Tom grabbed the lead on the initial green, overpowering Mike Brightman from Acushnet Ma. Mike tried to hang on in his Impact Collision Fusion #29, but Ken Spencer, who led much of the opening nights events, glued himself to the rear bumper of Scully. Brightman settled into third, while Rookie of the Year contender Jake Vanada and Fred Astle followed suite in the top 5. There was no change in the top five until Astle, in the Wood Frame Structures Chevy #30 slip up to the second groove, and worked his way into 4th by lap 15.

It was on the eighteenth circuit that the field was slowed for the first and only time. Opening night feature winner Tom Scully Jr was working his way up from his fourteenth starting position. He was working the outside of Vanada, while also trying to squeeze under the lapped car of Joseph Melberg of Attleboro, MA. Vanada got a little loose, and he slid up into the deuce of Scully, forcing him and the Melberg mount into the wall, ending both of their nights. Joey Cerullo in the Flood Auto Group Ford Fusion #6 retired to the pits at this time, fighting mechanical woes.

On the ensuing restart, fans were treated to fender to fender racing, as Ken Spencer was able to keep his Pub 76-RF Transport #03 even with the Sr. Scully. For the next several laps, the fought side by side while Astle stayed right with the 2 leaders. The top 3 cars started to pull away from 4th place runner Brightman, while reigning Pro Stock Champion Dave Darling was starting to make his presence felt. Darling started 11th, and by lap 25, had brought the Johnson Landscaping-Almeida Farms #52 into the top five.

Scully Sr. continued to set his pace with Spencer now on his rear bumper. While Spencer fought on the outside, Fred Astle was able to slide his blue and white Chevy under Spencer and take over the second position. Spencer fell back in line to third. Dave Darling had fought his way up to the fourth by lap 35, while Brightman’s Impact Collision Parts 27 fell back to fifth. With 3 laps to go, Ken Spencer fought to the inside of Astle, and the 2 battled side by side for the remaining laps, while Tom Scully Sr. opened up a 2 length advantage at the checkered flag. Spencer was able to regain the second spot, with Astle third, Dave Darling fourth, and Mike Brightman rounding out the top five. A pair of rookies in Jake Vanada and Ryan Vanasse had great runs, and they finished sixth and seventh respectively, with Matt Hudon, Scott Dion and Steve O’Brien rounded out the top ten.

“This feels good” Tom would say in Victory Lane. “After the way things ended early last year, and wrecking last week, it’s nice to be back in Victory Lane. Too bad Tommy wrecked. Maybe next week we can get both cars to finish the race. It was fun racing Fred and Kenny. They are great competitors.”

Matt Breault picked up his first win in the Late Model 30 lap main event. Robert Hussey of Wellfleet, MA and rookie Rey Lovelace of Providence, RI brought the field down for the initial green. It wasn’t a full lap before they first caution was displayed, as opening night winner Somerset, MA’s Kyle Casper spun in turn 3 into the infield. No damage was done, and he rejoined the field in the rear. Lovelace jumped out to an early lead, while 2007 Rookie of the Year Matt Breault from Acushnet MA filled in right behind. On lap 2, pole sitter Robert Hussey stalled his Erin H Charters #80 stalled in turn 4.

On the ensuing restart, Breault powered his Breault Roofing #20 into the lead. While he was opening up an advantage over the next several laps, West Warwick’s Jeramee Lillie was working through the field from his 12th place starting spot. The Phil’s Propane Chevy of Kevin Casper of Somerset MA and brother Kyle were also finding their way through the traffic. By lap 12,  Lillie and Kyle Casper had moved into second and third, with Kevin Casper and Lovelace rounding out the top 5. By then,  Matt Breault had a straightaway lead. He would continue to dominate until Mark Langloise of Seekonk, MA spun his #12 in turn 2, which brought out the 3rd yellow.

With his lead evaporated, Matt found himself in familiar territory. Opening night saw Matt lead several laps, before falling back into he top 5, before spinning late. He would not let that happen again. With just over half the race remaining, Matt knew this would be a fight. Matt continued to set the pace after the restart, but Lillie, in the 3D Motorsports #3 worked the high side. Try as he might, he could not find a way by the orange 20 of Breault. On lap 21, early leader Rey Lovelace spun his Rey’s Car Care #14, bringing out the 4th and final caution.

With 9 laps remaining, the top 5 looked like Breault, Lillie, Kyle Casper, Kevin Casper, and reigning champion Gerry DeGasparre of Pawtucket RI finally cracking the top 5. John Hanafin, Dennis Stampfl, John Dickerman, Bill Bernard, and Marc Curtis Jr were running sixth through tenth. Once again, Matt would keep the point, as Lillie, Kyle Casper and Kevin Casper would all fight for racing room. Side by side racing for the top 4 positions would continue for the final laps. As the field roared down the back straight for the final time, Kyle Casper would find an open groove under Lille. At the stripe, behind Breault, Kyle Casper would finish second, with Lillie, DeGasparre, and Kevin Casper rounding out the top five. Sixth through tenth were John Hanafin, John Dickerman, Marc Curtis Jr, Dennis Stampfl and Bill Bernard.

Matt must have been watching the big boys on TV, as he put on a smoke show as well as anyone after his win, to the delight of  all the fans.  “This is great!” Matt explained in Victory Lane. “Jeramee, Kyle, they all raced me clean. It was great racing with those guys. Thanks to Breault Roofing and all my sponsors.”

It was career win number 1 for sophomore competitor Chris DeMoura. Crystal Serydynski of Johnston RI and Rey Negley from Coventry RI brought the field down for their 20 lap main. Serydynski and Negley would run side by side for the first two laps. After lap 5, Negley would slide up the racetrack and lose several positions. DeMoura quickly filed in line to second, while Tony Oliveira ran third, Paul Lallier and Bob Bettencourt Jr. ran fourth and fifth. The first yellow would fall on lap 8, and Pawtucket RI native Chris Rioux would stall in turn 3. Only one lap would transpire before Ryan Lineham of Coventry RI spun, but it was an important lap for DeMoura, as he was able to power by Crystal on the restart. When they went back to green on lap 9, DeMoura would open a 2 car length lead over Paul Lallier, who was moving up on the outside. At lap 10, the top ten looked like DeMoura, Lallier, Oliveira, Mark Henshaw, Bettencourt, and Paul Newcomb.

While DeMoura continued to set the pace, the race to watch was back in the 4th, 5th, and 6th positions. Reigning champ Sparky Arsenault was starting to navigate through the heavy traffic, and was battling with Bettencourt and Newcomb. The 3 cars would hook up in a 3 wide battle that lasted for over 2 laps, with Newcomb on the inside and Bettencourt up in the 3rd groove. Dave Radcliffe would make it 4 wide down the backstretch, but ran out of real estate, and spun the #01 in turn 3. That would bring the yellow out again on lap 13. The top five at this time was DeMoura, Lallier, Henshaw, Newcomb, and Arsenault.

Once again, Lallier would continue his fight on the outside of DeMoura, trying to wrestle the lead away from the sophomore. Side by Side they would battle for the lead with Henshaw, Newcomb and Arsenault in a 5 car battle. On lap 17, the 89 of Mike Szczoczarz III would slow and stall in turn 2, bringing out the 5th slow up of the feature. A quick lap at speed would slow one final time for the 45 of rookie Justin Travis, who spun in turn 1.

It was a green-white-checker setup to the finish. Chris DeMoura brought the field down one more time, and with Paul Lallier caught on the outside, Sparky was able to squeeze underneath for the second spot. Coming down for the checkered, Arsenault would take a shot for the win, but would come up half a car length short, and Chris DeMoura would pick up career win #1. Sparky Arsenault would have to settle for second, with Paul Lallier, Scott Serydynski and Dennis Dupuis fighting their way into the top 5 in the final laps. Mark Henshaw, Steve Axon, Paul Newcomb, Rey Negley and Tony Oliveira would round out the top ten.

In the 20 lap Seekonk Sports Truck feature, it was time for a new face in Victory Lane. Billy Clark of Seekonk, Ma and Lenny Guy of New Bedford brought the field down for the green. They would run side by side for a lap. It was on lap 2, when the hardest hit of the night would happen, as rookie Jody Tripp would find out the hard way that the turn 4 wall is not forgiving. A hard hit would sideline Tripp for the night. He climbed out ok, but was checked out by the safety crew. Hugh Bowser had worked his way up from his 7th starting spot, and was sitting on the outside of Guy on the restart.

When the green came back out, it was Bowers of Taunton Ma getting the grip on the outside, and picking up the lead. As they came out of turn 2, Lenny Guy would lose his traction and spin on the backstretch. Clarke continued to run second, with Bill Prisco, Zach Tucan and Ed Gannon III running third through fifth. Tucan was trying to hang on to the outside, when the caution came back out for Carlos Silva of Swansea MA, as he went up in smoke out of the fourth corner.

On the lap 6 restart, Prisco would get by Clarke for the second spot. Meanwhile, reigning champ Mike Cavallaro, Rick Martin and Charlie Rose Jr. were working their way through the field. On lap 8, Billy Clarke would bring out the yellow when he spun in turn 2. They would only get two more laps in, before Mike Cavallaro and Clarke would rub, causing the left rear tire to go down on the Rebel Racing #80.

At the halfway point, Bowser set the pace, while Prisco, Charlie Rose, Gannon and Lenny Guy rounded out the top five. Cavallaro, Brian Murray, Tucan, Jason Heroux and Darryl Church rounded out the top ten. On lap 11, the 88 of Prisco started to lose the handles, and Charlie Rose slid underneath for the second position. When coming off of turn 4, Prisco had a fistful of steering wheel as he tried to get the handles on his machine. Ed Gannon III made contact with Prisco, and they locked together. By this time Rick Martin, Cavallaro and Guy rounded out the top 5.

A last restart with 5 laps to go had the fans on the edge of their seats. Rose was lined up on the outside of Bowser, Martin right behind, and you can never count out Cavallaro. Rose fought hard on the outside, evening up several times over the 5 lap sprint. But it was to no avail, as Hugh Bowser picked up a very popular win. Charlie rose would have to settle for second, with Martin, Cavallaro, and Guy rounding out the top 5. Brian Murray, Ed Gannon III, Jason Heroux, Zach Tucan and Darryl Church would round out the top ten.

“This win was a long time coming.” sighed Hugh in the winners circle. “I could taste it over the last several laps. Caution after caution. Man, this is great. Charlie, Rick, to beat them is awesome. We had the truck up for sale over the winter, but there were no takers. So we figured we’d make them pay. Thanks to Dave Lougee, M&D Cabinetry and DPW Woodworking. They put a heck of a ride together for me.”

TOM SCULLY, JR. LEADS LIST OF OPENING NIGHT WINNERS

Todd Baptista

Second generation ace Tom Scully, Jr. of Cranston, RI led the list of Opening Night winners at the 1/3-mile Seekonk Speedway oval on Saturday night May 10, capturing the 40-lap Pro Stock feature in the Subway of Seekonk-East Coast Collision-Dr. Feelgood Limousines #2 Chevrolet.  Rookie Ryan Vanasse led the first two circuits before a hard-charging Kenny Spencer rocketed past via the outside.  Spencer maintained his advantage through a pair of early cautions while Fred Astle, Jr. worked his way forward from sixth.  Astle was strong in the high groove, passing Scully, Jr. for second on lap 8 and edging past Spencer to lead the 10th go-around in the Wood Frame Structures #30.

Spencer battled back on lap 11, and soon Astle and Scully were locked in a heated exchange for second.  The pair made contact on lap 13, and Astle spun around in turn three and was forced to restart from the tail.  Veteran Joe Cerullo snatched second from Scully on a lap 16 restart, but went around in turn one battling for position the next time by, moving the two-time defending champ David Darling to third.

At the halfway point, Matt Hudon, Jake Vanada, Scott Dion, and Astle ran fourth through seventh.  Astle used the outside line to his advantage once again, charging to third just as Vanada and Tom Scully, Sr. tangled to bring out the sixth yellow on lap 26.  Astle took second on the restart and closed on Spencer’s rear bumper at a high rate of speed, making contact with the leader and spinning out the Pub 76-R&F Transportation-Francis Farm #03 on the backstretch with 28 laps completed.

Scully Jr. inherited the lead when the dust settled and never looked back, opening up a comfortable advantage over Matt Hudon and David Darling to earn his ninth career Seekonk win.  Vanasse was fourth, followed by Dion, Cerullo, Astle, Steve O’Brien, John Dabrowski, and Mike Brightman.

Somerset, MA’s Kyle Casper overpowered early race leader Matt Breault on the 19th circuit of the 30-lap Late Model main, and held on to score his ninth career win in the Somerset Federal Credit Union-Kidd Motorsports-Wayne's Auto Repair-Columbus Oil Co.-Wave One Technologies #7.  Breault blasted into the lead via the outside starting spot but was interrupted by caution with one lap completed when three-time champ Gerry DeGasparre, Jr. was sent spinning in turn three.  Breault, Jeramee Lillie, and the Casper brothers, Kyle and Kevin, put on a highly-competitive show throughout the first half of the event while DeGasparre worked his way to the front, taking fourth on lap 17.

Two laps later, Casper dove under Breault and Lillie went past via the high line, relegating last year’s Rookie of the Year to third.  While battling for position with Kevin Casper on lap 24, Breault spun in turn three, and collected Mark Anzalone in the process.

Casper drove away from Lillie in the final sprint to the finish to post a popular win, followed by Lillie, DeGasparre, who passed Kevin Casper via the outside line with two laps to go, and Jonathan Dickerman, who earned fifth.  Positions six through ten went to Denny Stampfl, Bill Bernard, Randy Clark, rookie John Hanafin, and Matt Breault, who clawed his way back to 10th.

Mike “The Rebel” Cavallaro nipped “Radical” Rick Martin at the line by 67 one-thousandths of a second to win the 20-lap Sport Truck featurein the Gateway Auto Sales-Checker Cab of Rhode Island-Body Talk Auto & Cycles #80 Chevrolet.  Martin drew the pole starting spot and led the first 18 laps until a late race caution set up a green-white-checker finish and erased Martin’s substantial advantage.  Martin and Cavallaro traded paint all the way to the finish, which saw the Seekonk, MA native prevail for the 23rd time in his career.  Martin, Charlie Rose, Billy Prisco, and rookie Jody Tripp comprised the remainder of the top five.  Hugh Bowser, Ed Gannon III, Brian Murray, Zach Tucan, and Lenny Guy ran sixth through tenth.

Attleboro, MA’s Steve “The Axman” Axon led 19 circuits en route to his first career victory in the 20-lap Street Stock feature in the Southeastern Hardwood Floors-Calinda's Auto Repair-Cumberland Tire Center #04 Chevrolet Malibu.  Frank Duquette and defending ’07 champ Sparky Arsenault stalked Axon throughout the event, which was slowed for caution three times.  After Ryan Lineham brought out the yellow on lap 7, Duquette, who was strong on the restarts in the NAC Security & Stereo Systems #03, nudged ahead to lead lap 8, but Axon powered back in the inside lane.  Arsenault passed Duquette for second in the final mile, but finished 0.46 seconds behind the victor.  Chris Rioux was fourth, followed by veteran Dennis Dupuis, Brian Spillane, two-time champ Bob Bettencourt, Jr., John Geremia III, Paul Lallier, and Paul Newcomb, Jr.

The most spectacular crash of the night occurred during the Street Stock consi event, when Randolph, MA' rookie Ron Lum lost a wheel and crashed on the fronstsretch.  Fellow first-year pilot Ron Letourneau, who had no place to go, drove over the nose of the #76 Chevy and briefly became airborne, tearing the rear end out of the DeStefano Auto Service #88 Camaro in the process.  No one was injured in the incident.
